Every year in the month of the February, Agra bursts into colorful celebrations. Yes, it is time of Agra Taj Mahotsav. The 10 days long celebration of Agra Taj Mahotsav, represents the rich heritage of arts, crafts, culture, cuisine, dance and music of Uttar Pradesh. At this time of the year, Agra is in all its splendour. There are festivities all around and Agra gets transformed into one non stop carnival. Agra Taj Mahotsav event is organised by Uttar Pradesh Tourism, and held as an annual event at Shilpgram. Shipgram is next to the Taj Mahal and the Taj Mahotsav is indeed a fitting tribute to the legendary skills of master craftsmen and exponents of art, music and cuisine. This occasion also gives a gentle brief of the rich heritage and extraordinary legacies of this wonderful land.

The festivities commence with a spectacular procession inspired by Mughal splendour. Bedecked elephants and camels, drum beaters, folk artists and master craftsmen, all in festive mood to recreate a visual delight reminiscent of the golden era of the Mughal rule during celebrations of Agra Taj Mahotsav.

Taj Mahotsav is a gathering of the fabulous artisans and master craftsmen, who gave life to their exquisite works of art. The festival brings forth an spectacular collection of marble inlays, fine crafts, wood carvings from Saharanpur, brass and other metalware from Moradabad, handmade carpets of Badohi, the blue pottery of Khurja, the Chikan work of Lucknow, the silk of Banares to list a few. Agra with its legendry tradition of exquisite craftmenship is thus the perfect venue for holding a crafts fair like the Taj Mahotsav.

Apart from the crafts fair, the Mahotsav also features Food Festival. If you are present at the Crafts Festival, just don't forget to be the part of the relishing Food Festival. This festival allows you to relish the exotic cuisine's and delicacies prepared by some of the oldest exponents and the typical preparations from the interiors of Uttar Pradesh.
Throughout the Mahotsav, one can experience a profusion of folk music and dances of Dundelkhand, Drama, Rajasthani dance, Lavani of Maharashtra and many other form of art & culture, performed just the way they used to be centuries ago.

Agra is renowned for it's centuries old monuments. For experiencing the pomp and show of the bygone era, there are classical performances held at these ageless sites, recreating the splendour and ambience once associated with Mughal Emperors.
