Major Airports of India

Due to an accession in the influx of tourists in India and the ongoing boom in international trade, India is trying to bridge the existing gap between demand and supply of well equipped and spacious international airports. India currently has more than 20 sophisticated international airports, apart from which every state has its share of domestic airports and well connected air routes.

The names that feature in the list of most important international airports in India are Indira Gandhi International Airport of Delhi, Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport of Mumbai, HAL Airport of Bangalore, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport of Kolkata, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport of Ahmedabad and Trivandrum International Airport of Trivandrum.

Delhi
International:
Indira Gandhi International Airport forms a vital link between India and other countries of the world. Flights from almost every corner of the world are catered to by this airport, including big names like the British Airways, Fly Emirates, Gulf Air, Lufthansa Airlines, US Airways, United Airlines, Thai Airways. The domestic terminal of the Indira Gandhi International Airpor, situated in Palam caters to the domestic flights of India. Kingfisher Airlines, Jet Airways, IndiGo Airlines, Air Sahara and Go Air connect Delhi to almost all major cities of India.

Agra
International:
Agra doesn't have any international airport but it is connected with two major international airports of northern India, located at a convenient distance from the city including Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi and Amritsar International Airport in Amritsar, Punjab.

Domestic:
India's major travel hub, Agra in Uttar Pradesh, has a domestic airport at Kheria, 5 km from the city centre. Its known as the Agra Civil Enclaves Airport. It caters to the major domestic flights of India including Indian Airlines, Jet Airways and Air Deccan.

Other nearby domestic airports are Palam Airport in Delhi, Amritsar Airport in Punjab, Chandigarh Airport in Chandigarh, C.A. Kanpur Airport in Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh) and Amausi Airport in Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh).

Jaipur
International:
The international airport at Jaipur is the 14th international airport of the country. Located at a distance of 10 km from the pink city Jaipur, it makes the historical cities of Rajasthan easily accessible for the foreign tourists. International carriers that land at Jaipur airport include Air Arabia from Sharjah and Oman Air from Bangkok, Dubai and Kuala Lumpur.

Domestic:
Several domestic flights like Kingfisher Airlines, Jet Airways, Go Air, Air Deccan, etc fly from Jaipur Airport's domestic terminal connecting the city to Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Kota, Aurangabad, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Delhi.
