Jaisalmer Fort
Constructed 800 years back in yellow golden sandstone the Jaisalmer Fort
crowns the Trikuta Hill. Nearly a quarter of modern Jaisalmer lies within
the walls of Jaisalmer Fort. The fort has 4 gateways -Akhaiyal, Ganesh
Pol,Suraj Pol and Hava Pol. It also houses beautiful havelis and Jain
Temples of the 12th-15th century AD
Jain Temples
These groups of fine Jain temples were built in the 12th to 15th century
within the Jaisalmer Fort. The fort has three remarkably carved Jain Temples
sacred to the Jain Tirthankars- Rishabhdev, Sambhavnath and Paraswanath.
Gyan Bhandar/ Library is another attraction housing some of the antique
manuscripts of India established in the premises of the Jain temples.
Gadsisar Sagar Lake
Gadsisar Sagar Lake is a picturesque rain water lake built in 1156 AD with
many charming shrines around the lake. The place is also a home to a
wondrous avian variety a great attraction for tourist.
Haveli /Mansions
These exquisite mansions built by Jaisalmer's wealthy merchants are known
as 'havelis'. Havelis of Jaisalmer are lavishly carved with filigree work,
studied corridors and pillars painted with delicate artistic sense,
customarily leaves the tourist wonder stuck. Most Havelis are constructed
between 12th-15th century. Main attractions are Patwon-ki-Haveli, Jaisalmer
Haveli, Nathmalji-ki-Haveli, and Salim singh-ki-Haveli. Patwon ki Haveli is
the most intricate and impressive of all the Jaisalmer havelis.
Excursion
A trip to Sam Sand Dune : 42km. A journey to Sam sand
dunes on camel safari is accompanied by folk music and dance, a real
kaleidoscopic, memorable event for a visitor. No trip to Jaisalmer is
complete without a trip to the most picturesque dunes of Sam. Desert
National Park treasures Indian Gazelle, Chinkara Eagle and extrinsic avian
variety. The park lies to the southwest of Jaisalmer 40kms from Jaisalmer.
Wood Fossil Park 17km from Jaisalmer is a home to 180 million-year-old
fossils - the geological landmarks for the study of the Thar Desert. Lodurva
17 kms an ancient capital of Jaisalmer; and the Bada Bagh 6 kms away, an
oasis on the bank of an artificial lake.
Festivity/The
Desert Festival
The desert blossom in a thousand colors during the celebrations of Desert
Festival in the month of January/ February. Many events are organized like
camel races and folk dances, turban tying contest, craft bazaar and
traditional singings. This sound and light show on the sand dunes of Sam on
the full moon night is worth watching.
Camel Safaris and fabulous Palace on Wheels tour a fairytale ride across
the desert, are other major attraction for the visitors coming to Rajasthan.

Jaisalmer is famous for mirror work, embroidered articles, wooden crafts
and silver jewelry. The main shopping hubs are Sadar Bazaar, Manak Chowk,
