The one and only Hill Station of Rajasthan, Mt.Abu is always abuzz with activities and pregnant with tourists. However, the time of Buddha Purnima, when Summer Festival is celebrated, colors the city in a new color. Blessed with rocky terrains, serene lakes, picture perfect backdrop, and salubrious climate, the city forms an ideal venue for the Summer Festival. It is the time when the tourists get a chance to know the folk traditions, folk arts and folk music of Rajasthan.
It depicts the tribal life of Rajasthan very peculiarly. It is one of the most famous fairs and festivals of Rajasthan. For three days the city resonates in sounds of gaiety and frolic. The festival commemorates the arrival of tourists fro different regions for different reasons.
Attractions of Summer Festival
The festival is a feast for the tourists organized by the Rajasthan Tourism, Municipal Board, Mt.Abu & District Administration. It is the time when visitors to Mt.Abu can actually feel the warmth of hospitality of the hosts amidst the nippy temperature. A ceremonial procession incepts the festival. This procession starts from the RTDC Hotel and gathers at Nakki Lake Chowk. The folk performers from Rajasthan and Gujarat follow this procession. A spectacular fire works display marks the event on all three days.
