Jagmandir Palace Udaipur was initiated by Maharaja Karan Singh in 1620 but it was extended by Maharaja Jagat Singh and so it has been named after him. If legends are to believed, it is said that even Shah Jahan was so much so inspired by its beauty, when he stayed here and lead a revolt against his father Jehangir, that he took ideas especially of pieta dura work and incorporated them while making the legendary epitome of love - Taj Mahal.
However, the two monuments are poles apart in terms of architecture. The travelers are delighted to see the serene palace amidst lake Pichola where they actually enjoy boat cruise to reach it. The breathtaking view of the impeccable valley enveloped in hills make the cruise all the more exciting. In the middle of the lake the palace stands superbly offering a stunning view to the joyous beholders.
