Rishabdeo:
Placed in a scenic setting, Rishabdeo is a pilgrimage destination where
devotees come to visit the 15th century Jain temple devoted to Rishabdeo, an
incarnation of Jainism founder Lord Mahavira. It is an important place of
worship among the people of Bhil tribe, since they believe that all their
wishes are fulfilled by him. The temple enshrines a silver statue of Lord
Rishabdeo and has sculptured panels throughout its complex.
Bambora:
Bambora is a small village located to the south of Udaipur, at a distance
of 45 km. From the mere appearance of the place, one is unable to get the
real relevance of the place as a tourist destination until one gets a
glimpse of the 250 year old mighty citadel known as Karni Fort. You can

Jagat:
Jagat is a small town which is home to the 10th century Durga Temple, also
known as the Jagat Temple. 56 km to the southeast of Udaipur, this temple
showcases some fine carvings on its facade. It is also known as the
'Khajuraho of Rajasthan' for some erotic images carved on its walls. Placed
in the fissure of a rock, Jagat temple has a praise worthy architecture with
sculptures of deities, motifs, allegorical panels and mandaps that enhance
its exquisiteness.

Jaisamand Lake:
Also known as Dhebar, Jaisamand is among the largest artificial lakes of
Asia. It is situated 48 km to the south east of Udaipur and was constructed
by Maharaja Jai Singh in the 17th century by obstructing the waters of river
Gomti.
On its embankments are beautiful white marble chhatris and a series of
steps leading into the waters. With a backdrop of rugged hills and towering
palaces of Maharanis of Udaipur, the lake has a brilliant view to offer.
Close to the lake is the Jaisamand Wildlife Sanctuary, which was earlier a
royal hunting ground for the Rajputs, and today it is home to a wide variety
of conserved wildlife species.
Sitamata Wildlife Sanctuary:
Spreading its coverage over the Aravallis and the Vindhyachal mountain
ranges in an area of 423 sq km is an area apt for nurturing wildlife. This
area is known as Sitamata Wildlife Sanctuary, located 90 km to the southeast
of Udaipur. It would be great fun to explore this wild habitat abundant in
deciduous plantations and known for its teak trees. Commonly spotted animals
here are Leopards, Sambars, Deers, Wild Boars, etc.
A 16th century fort known as Fort Dhariyawad, is also situated within the
sanctuary. It was built by the second son of Maharana Pratap, prince
Sahasmal.
Dungarpur:
An erstwhile princely state, Dungarpur today is a famous tourist spot of
Rajasthan. It is located about 110 km from Udaipur. It earlier belonged to
the Bhils, and was later taken over by Rawal Veer Singh in the 13th century.
There are several tourist attractions situated here in the foothills of
Aravallis, the most important one being the Udai Vilas Palace and the Juna
Mahal.
Udai Vilas Palace shocases the amazing architecture of the Rajputs, with
its sculptured pannels and bracketed windows. Other must visit attractions
are Rajmata Devendra Kunwar State Museum , Gaib Sagar and Deo Somnath
Temple.
Galiakot:
Galiakot is home to the tomb of saint Fakruddin, and thus an important
Muslim pilgrimage destination. Saint Fakruddin is known to have spread the
teachings of Mohommad in the 10th century. The shrine is built of white
marble which every year sees many pilgrims bending there heads in prayer.
Baneshwar:
The famous Baneshwar Fair of Rajasthan takes place here at Baneshwar, at a
distanc eof 80 km from Dungarpur, placed at the confluence of three sacred
rivers: Som, Mahi and Jokham. The Baneshwar Temple is devoted to Lord Shiva
who is known as Baneshwar or 'the master of the delta'. The idols of Goddess
Lakshmi, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva are worshiped here. The Baneshwar Fair
is the time of festivity, especially for the Bhils of Dungarpur, Udaipur and
Bhanswara. It is celebrated in the month of January-February at the time of
Shivratri.
