Have
you ever thought of visiting a traditional handicraft market within the
hustle and bustle of Delhi city? If yes, than you must visit Delhi haat, a

opposite to the INA market, Delhi haat is a fine blend of both food plaza
and craft bazaar. It is an ideal place to spend your Sunday evening, which
was inaugurated in March, 1994.
Unlike the rural weekday markets, Delhi haat is a permanent structure. It
is dotted with stalls of various states that represents the art, culture and
handicrafts of their own region. This place provides craftsmen of the
various Indian states, a platform to showcase their artistic brilliance and
also enable to sustain the rich traditional heritage of India.
This handicraft market is an ambitious project of Delhi tourism and NDMC,
D.C. (Handicrafts) & D.C. (handlooms), Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of
India & Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India. This place is well
connected and easily accessible by both Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC)
Buses and Delhi metro and to enter this traditional world, you have to just
pay a nominal price of Rs 15 for adults and Rs 5 for children.
To create the true ambiance of a rural bazaar, creators of this place has
designed it in a special way. Stones and brickwork are skillfully

vases, made up of clay are placed here to beautify this place more. To give
it a pure village touch, the roofs of the stalls available here are made up
of thatch.
